Happy new year to whoever is out there reading this post right now! We very much hope that 2025 is treating you well so far, and that as the year of the Wood Snake slithers towards us, you are greeted with prosperity and quiet progress.
We ended 2024 with a sharing of our new show, If Destroyed Still True, at the Imaginate Scratch Night, in partnership with The Festival Studio. I can confidently say that this piece divided audiences more than anything else we have presented in a while, but if this is your kind of thing (anarchic, mysterious, risky, sad and pleasant unbothered confusion*) then you’ll like it. You can find pictures from the performance here.
*some written feedback from audience members
In other news, we found out we were successful in our funding application to Creative Scotland to finish making and present DUSSSSKK in Autumn of 2025. We are really delighted, and are starting to put plans together for the upcoming months.

This October, Eszter is taking part in Magnetic North’s Rough Mix Programme - a creative lab to try out new ideas and develop work in an experimental and supportive environment. Eszter will be developing HORSES - a new movement piece inspired by the story of Michael Kohlhaas, an everyday citizen who suffers an act of injustice at the hands of someone with power.
This year, Rough Mix’s end of residency sharing on the 11th October will be part of MEGAMIX - a three day festival celebrating Magnetic North’s 25 year anniversary. Eszter and Claire actually met at a Rough Mix residency back in 2015, so we have lots to celebrate! You can check out the programme and book tickets here

This festival season, Isy is working with the wonderful Eoin McKenzie on his contemporary dance piece The Show for Young Men, as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase - a performance for audiences aged 8+ that considers familiar and unexpected ideas about masculinity and friendship. We are big fans of Eoin’s work, and highly recommend catching it at DanceBase here.

We began leading our school sessions this month, working in two ASN schools in Fife and Glasgow - collaborating with the young people to explore ideas of transformation, bodies, and the pain and joy of change. Across 14 sessions, we are questioning how audiences / participants can have more autonomy in what and how they hear music and can engage with artistic material. Specifically we are exploring vocal experimentation, stimming as a choreographic practice. and the ways in which costume / props and sound design can be a live and playful interactive process that influences what happens in the room. This has been made possible by Creative Scotland’s Youth Arts Open Fund.
These sessions will directly inform the making of DUSSSKK, which will be developed over the next year, and premiere in 2025, partly funded by the Jerwood New Work Fund.
